Hello out there!
Yep, the summer is over and once again I'm a slacker when it comes to posting blogs. Suffice it to say that the heat had a negative impact on this season's fishing. Flowers showed up early, fish showed up on time, but they stopped by and headed northward. The flats fish were the spookiest I've ever experienced them. Perhaps it's fishing pressure, some say there is a decline in the striper fishery, maybe it's cyclical. The bottom line, it was a quiet summer for fishing. The "fall blitz" showed up in an "on and off" fashion. In fact there are probably a few fish still hanging around but it's mostly ducks that I see out on the harbor. Sometimes the gulls and gannets look like they are yoyo-ing above fish, but it's ducks that I see breaking the surface, a sure sign that fall is here. So turn back your clocks and enjoy the winter with its trips to places where the fish are still hungry.
